I'm hooked.....

Okay, as some of you may know, my oldest son has taken up a new sport... Lacrosse! I have to say I wasn't sure about it at first; mainly because it is the one sport that I honestly know very little about. But he absolutley LOVES it so I've tried to learn a little bit more about it now that he is a part of the Mill Creek Lacrosse League. This week-end they had their first game and I have to admit it.... I'm hooked! What an exciting game to watch! I had no idea! It's quite physical (a little too physical at times which landed a few guys in the penalty box) and the action is non-stop. I thought Reed did very well for his game. He did the face-offs for his team and won most of those. His team won 8-0. (Thankfully we have one kid who has played for about 8 years and is quite good.) Most of the kids are new to the sport since this is Mill Creek's inaugural season and most of the parents are definitely new to the game. The conversations in the stand are quite amusing as we all try to figure out what's going on. We all assume that as long as the ref isn't blowing his whistle or throwing a flag, the boys are doing well. So most of us watched the refs and their reactions as much as our players!
Anyway, I thought I'd include a few pictures of my new Lacrosse player. Apparently we didn't have enough sports going on in this family....

The Vicious Virus

Okay.... what a week it's been. We've had the stomach virus going through our house and it's been a vicious one. It hit everyone except Reed (hopefully he has escaped it!). River apparently brought it home from Pre-K.... 4 year olds are great at sharing!! I've fumigated the entire house and washed everything that could be washed. Hopefully "it" has left the building!
And although River brought this mess into our house, I have to comment on what a great patient he is.... he basically sleeps, asks for ginger ale a few times, and throws up quite neatly in the bucket or pail if he can't make it to the bathroom. No mess involved! Ridge, on the other hand...
And, of course, I won' t even mention what kind of patient Dave is because we all know that men are the worst!!

Speaking of River, (and on to more pleasant topics) we have a new baseball player in the house. River started T-Ball last week and loves it. I had to take him for "evaluations" a couple of weeks ago, which of course was on the coldest day of the year. He and I stood in line for an hour and a half for him to hit the ball, run to first, stop two balls and throw it to first base... for a total of about two minutes spent on the field. He came off the field and said "that was the greatest time ever!" Gotta' love that kid!
