Wow... it's been a long time since I took the time to sit down and post something. A lot has happened. Summer has ended and a new school year has started. I plan to post some pictures soon. Sadly, we've had a great loss in our family. Dave's dad passed away last month after a hard fought battle with cancer. Last Christmas we received the news that his cancer was gone... we were elated. Unfortunately, our joy was short lived because around Easter, the cancer had returned and it was bad. He tried a couple of trials after his oncologist said there wasn't anything else that could be done. Unfortunately, nothing helped and my kids lost another dear grandparent. The funeral, although sad, was a beautiful celebration of his life. He was a wonderful man and his legacy will live on through his sons and grandchildren. We love you Papa and miss you dearly!

The great crash

Well, my computer crashed last week and I am sooooo mad at myself because I had a lot of pictures on there that I had not yet taken the time to save elsewhere. I almost cried and it still makes me a little sick to my stomach. I will never let that happen again. I keep thinking of pictures that I've now lost and it is seriously driving me crazy. : (

My champion

Looks like I have a new "LAXer" in the house... River's team won the Lacrosse championship. This was his first season and he absolutely loves it!

Oh Boy! (Times four!)

People often ask me what it's like being a mom of four boys, but having only ever been a mom of boys.... it's all I know. So although I don't really have anything to compare it to, I do think that my house is probably a little louder and more rambunctious than a house with only girls. I have to endure a lot of wrestling, ball throwing, cars crashing, and block towers falling. But I also get to endure a lot of hugs and kisses and snuggles. We also have season to season sports which includes baseball, football, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse. So, yes, my schedule is CRAZY busy all the time but I can honestly say that I love it! And although I missed out on the playing dress-up and fixing hair, I certainly wouldn't change a thing. I love my boys and my boys love me!
Speaking of my boys.....

Stoned

What a weekend! I got to watch River score his first Lacrosse goal... yay!! I got to watch Ripken at one of his first t-ball practices. I got to watch Reed win the chamipionship game in basketball... yay! Oh, , yeah, and I passed a whopper of a kidney stone!! 9mm, I am told. I pretty muych knew it was a stone Friday when the pain first hit (as I've had them twice before) but I was able to mask the pain with pain pills all day Saturday because I didn't want to miss out on any of the boys' sporting events. Well, by the time we made it to Reed's game, I knew I was in trouble. By then the pills weren't helping, but I held out until I saw him receive that long awaited for trophy, then headed for the door. I left Dave at home with the three younger ones and had Reed drive me to the ER. A few tests later, it was confirmed, I had a stone and it was a BIG one! They opted to keep me overnight and called in the urologist in the morning. He reviewed the CT scans and said that he felt our only option was surgery because he didn't think I could pass it due to the size. I told him I had passed two others but he felt certain that with the size of this one, that wouldn't be possible. So I reluctantly agreed to the surgery. He called the OR and they informed him of a cancellation and said they could take me right away. The next thing I knew, the transport team had arrived and they were getting ready to take me down to the OR. I requested one last trip to the bathroom and guess what happened.... I passed that stone all on my own!! Crazy, huh? They were quite surprised and I even had people who were working in other sections of the hospital stop by to see the infamous 9mm stone! Crazy, and a little icky, I think. But hey, I was famous around the hospital so I had to oblige my "fans". I even met one guy who told me he use to be the hero around here because he had passed a 6mm one. So apparently he wanted to meet the chick that ruined his record. Needless to say, I didn't really care, I was just happy to have the thing out... talk about feeling relieved. I told the urologist he scared it out with all of that surgery nonsense. I was just happy to send that surgical team back home!

My sweet new nephew

My little nephew was born two months early weighing barely three pounds but proved right away he was a fighter and amazed everyone in the NICU. He was released from the hospital only a few weeks after he was born. And as you can see from these pictures, not only is he healthy, he's also one of the cutest babies ever! : )

Another successful Mill Creek Homecoming Dance

Reed's girlfriend was gorgeous and I must say he looked quite handsome.

I think those boys had more fun with the pictures than the girls! Too funny!

Bad blogger

Yes, I'm a horrible blogger. I love reading other people's blogs and keeping up with them but I am so bad at keeping up with my own. Oh well, I do try though.
So, what have we been up to?
Football, Soccer, and Lacrosse, of course!

In case you were wondering...

where I have been lately....

BACK TO WORK! School started and I've been at school late every day. Had to move classrooms this year so it's taken me all week just to get my room ready. Haven't even begun to make lesson plans yet. Hopefully I'll get around to that before the students arrive. ha!

I'll be ready to blog again soon, I hope. Still need to post vacation pictures... I'm sooooo behind!

The loss of a friend

Yesterday, I lost a dear friend to cancer. (Have I mentioned how much I hate cancer?!) She was a part of my life for over 17 years and quite honestly, I cannot imagine my life without her. Savana was one of a kind... she never allowed the hustle and bustle of everyday life to rush her. I can remember walking the streets of San Antonio, TX with her years ago and as I darted in and out of shops, always rushing around, she strolled slowly from shop to shop looking around at her own leisure. I was kidding her about walking so slowly and she said "You need to slow down, or you might miss something." I often think about that statement. That is truly how she lived her life... never wanting to miss anything. To her, life was truly a journey, not a race. She never let anyone change that. She loved life and she loved those in her life. I can honestly say my life was much richer with her in it.
Rest in peace, my sweet Savana.

Sleep well, little brothers

It's funny how both of these little guys have a room of their own and in fact, have two beds in each of their rooms, but where do I find them most nights?

Yep, in bed with their older brother. The sweet thing is how understanding big brother is and makes room for both.

Love my boys!

Memorial Day

Heading to a pool party and cook-out today but even more importantly, taking time to thank all of our soldiers who have given their lives to keep our country free.

Sand between my toes...

Okay, I admit it.... I am sooooo ready for summer vacation. What am I most looking forward to? The BEACH! Which one? Doesn't really matter.... I just love the beach. This year we will be going to Orange Beach, AL and Hilton Head, SC (of course!), but honestly, it really doesn't matter. Just give me the sand and the ocean breeze and I'm good.
